FESTIVAL GUIDELINES AND ENTRY FORM

Thank you for your interest in our Rural Iowa Film Festival. RIFF is a cultural outreach project of Electric Burrito and Prairieland Yoga.

To enter, print (or cut-and-paste into an email), the entry form, fill out and send with your payment and submission to the address listed below.

If you're not a filmmaker, you should still put this event on your calendar. It will be a multi-faceted cinematic shindig, and we can't wait to share it with you. We'll be adding information related to showtime and admission pricing in the future.

 

1. Submissions: All entries must have been completed on or after October 1, 2007. Preview copies must be submitted on DVD, accompanied by completed entry form and entry fee. Non-English language films must have English subtitles. If you would like your preview copy returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped mailing package. Incomplete submission packages may result in non-consideration.

2. Deadlines: Deadline for entries is February 15, 2010. Films selected for screening or awards will be notified by April 1, 2010. Screening entries must have a screening copy (format TBA) and press kit shipped to RIFF at the above address by May 1, 2010 (at filmmaker expense). A late entry deadline of March 15, 2010, is available with adjusted entry fees as indicated in the schedule below. Any entry received after March 15, 2010 is submitted at the filmmaker’s risk: judging will begin on March 15, and continue category by category until completed. Most heavily entered categories will be judged first. If a late entry arrives prior to the judging of its category, it will be judged.

 

3. Entry Fees: Fees are based on the schedule below. Make check or money order payable in US Dollars to Electric Burrito. A discounted rate is available to student and/or Iowa filmmakers. Student entries should be accompanied by a copy of the filmmaker’s valid student ID and/or Iowa ID.

 Entry Certification: By signing and submitting this entry, I certify that I own all rights to the submitted film, and have obtained all clearances for copyrighted material appearing in the entry. The filmmaker is entirely liable for any claims that may result in the screening of this entry. This film is not subject to any litigation, nor is threatened by any litigation. The organizers of this Festival cannot be held responsible for the accidental damage of the entry, and organizers bear no responsibility for the content of the submitted film. I will indemnify, defend and hold harmless RIFF organizers, individually and collectively, from and against all claims, complaints, causes of action, liabilities, judgments, losses, costs and expenses including reasonable attorneys fees arising out of or in connection with any and all claims and/or third party claims based on the materials submitted to RIFF. Participant agrees that all materials related to the entry, if accepted, may be published in Festival Program, website and all other promotional materials or property and in all media at no cost. Posters, excerpts and images of the film may be used independently as well as in combination with images from other films to promote the film and the Festival. To the best of my knowledge, all of the statements in this document are true.

In addition to a weekend of movies, we have beer and wine tastings, yoga workshops and more planned as you enjoy your time taking in the films, perusing local shops and the Corning Center for Fine Arts in downtown Corning.
